About

Professor Wood’s interests are in cell-based therapies, musculoskeletal oncology and primary and revision joint replacements of hip and knee. He is also interested in limb salvage, segmental allograft and prosthetic reconstruction.

He is a graduate of St Thomas', completing specialist training in Leicester Fellowships at Harvard in the UK and The University of Florida in the USA before migrating to Australia in 1990. Professor Wood is a recipient of The DV Davies prize for Surgical Anatomy, The Sir George Bedbrook medal and the Evelyn Hamilton Prize.  

Professor Wood is a Winthrop Professor at The University of Western Australia. He conducts research and supervises postgraduate research students, often in collaboration with co-supervisors from other orthopaedic units in the School of Surgery or with co-supervisors from The University of Western Australia School of Sport Science, Exercise and Health.
