Dr Walter has been a member of the Board of Management since 23 May 2011. Dr Walter is a partner in the Specialist Orthopaedic Group and operates at the Mater Hospital specialising in hip replacement and knee replacement surgery. He is a member of the Australian College of Surgeons, the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA) and the Arthroplasty Society of Australia. He completed his PhD (Surgery) in 2006 and accepted an appointment as Associate Professor and Clinical Discipline Leader in Surgery for the University of Notre Dame in 2010 (Mater Campus). Dr Walter is an Associate Professor with the University of NSW and is a Past president of ISTA (International Society of Technology in Arthroplasty).
A/Prof Justin Roe, MBBS (UNSW) BSc (Med) FRACS is a specialist orthopaedic knee surgeon based in North Sydney Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Centre and current Chair of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Mater Hospital, Sydney. He was awarded the prestigious 2013 Scientific Award at the ISAKOS congress in Toronto and was appointed as a Conjoint Associate Professor in the St Vincent’s Clinical School of the University of New South Wales in 2014. He has particular expertise in ACL reconstruction and procedures for osteoarthritis of the knee and a special interest in sports injuries, cartilage surgery, knee instability, mal-alignment and arthritis. He treats a large number of professional athletes, returning them to elite function after injury. Dr Roe has run an AIMS sponsored fellowship since 2008.
Dr Roger has been a member of the Board of Management since 19 July 2000. Dr Roger is the founder of Advanced Surgical Design & Manufacture Pty Limited, a leading Australian manufacturer and exporter of orthopaedic medical implants. Dr Roger is also Adjunct A/Prof of Bioengineering at the University of Sydney. In July 2013 Dr Roger was appointed by the Australian Federal Government as the Medical and Scientific Technologies Supplier Advocate.
Dr Cross was responsible for the establishment of the Institute in 1985, and has been a member of the Board of Management since the Institute was incorporated on 14 February 1985. Dr Cross who retired from practice in September 2012, was the senior orthopaedic surgeon at the North Sydney Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Centre. He is a Fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association, the Australian College of Sports Physicians, the Australian Sports Medicine Federation and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. He was Director of Orthopaedics for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
Mr Thomas has been a member of the Board of Management since the Institute was incorporated on 14 February 1985. Mr Thomas is the principal of the legal firm of Thomas and Company, and has been a solicitor in private practice since 1968. He is an accredited specialist in business law and a Notary Public.
