Dr Carmody’s main interest is conditions of the foot, ankle and knee. His Fellowship training had an emphasis on arthroscopic techniques for treating arthritis and sports injuries. Dr Carmody also has expertise in fracture management of the foot and ankle.

He can provide an expert opinion on conditions affecting the foot, ankle and knee including sports injuries, arthritis, instability, malalignment and tendon and cartilage problems.

Dr Carmody completed his medical degree at The University of Sydney in 1996 and passed his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2006. He was selected for further subspecialty Fellowship training in foot and ankle surgery in Bristol, UK with Mr Ian Winson, President of the European Foot and Ankle Society and a world leader in arthroscopic surgery of the Foot and Ankle. Dr Carmody completed further training in knee surgery in Lyon, France with Professor Philippe Neyret and Leuven, Belgium with Professor Johan Bellemans and Dr Jan Victor.

He has published research in numerous peer-reviewed journals and had papers presented at meetings in Australia and internationally. Dr Carmody’s research into spinal cord injuries in Australian footballers was awarded the “Prize for Outstanding Achievement in Applied Research in Sports Medicine by a Research Team” at the 2005 NSW Sports Safety Scheme Awards.
