About

Dr Rimmington is a specialist orthopaedic surgeon with a special interest in knee surgery, shoulder surgery, sports injuries and ligament reconstruction.

He gained his medical degree from The University of Queensland in 1995 and went on to complete Advanced Training in orthopaedic surgery, obtaining his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2004. Dr Rimmington went on to undertake further specialised education and training under the supervision of world renowned surgeons in Sydney and Canada. While in Sydney, he completed Fellowship training in both hand and microsurgery and shoulder and knee surgery.

In 2006, Dr Rimmington worked in Ontario, Canada where he worked at the Fowler-Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic under the supervision of Dr Peter Fowler, a past President of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine as well as other leading surgeons including Professor Bob Litchfield, Dr Robert Giffin and Dr Kevin Willits.

He is a member of the Australian Orthopaedic Association and a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. Dr Rimmington is a certified independent medical examiner and is registered with the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners. He is also a member of the Queensland Shoulder Society.

Dr Rimmington is the Director of Orthopaedics at St Andrew’s War Memorial Private Hospital on Wickham Terrace, Spring Hill, where his practice is based. In addition, he visits Cadogan House at Nundah on the Northside of Brisbane for clinics. He performs surgery at St Andrew’s War Memorial Private Hospital and The Holy Spirit Northside Hospital (Chermside). He is on the trauma roster at the Holy Spirit Northside where he manages general orthopaedic trauma.

Dr Rimmington also works as a Visiting Medical Officer at QEII Hospital and The Prince Charles Hospital.
