AIMS promotes orthopaedic excellence in practice through sharing knowledge, data and resources to explore orthopaedic outcomes based on research. The research undertaken through AIMS sponsored Fellowships is regularly published in leading national and international journals of many orthopaedic sub-specialties.

Successful AIMS candidates will be expected to complete two research projects to at least the level of final draft during the tenure of the Fellowship. Extensive involvement in clinical research is guaranteed due to the concentrated case load in these areas by orthopaedic surgery and the availability of research facilities. There is the opportunity for the Fellow to pursue their own interest, or undertake benchtop and multi-centre/disciplinary research.
